Участие СПбПУ в международном семинаре в Ганновере

At the beginning of November in Germany, within the frameworks of the strategic partnership program, SPbPU and the University of Hannover organized the international seminar "Integration of international students pursuing dual degree academic programs".

The seminar raised the issues of developing combined dual degree master programs in the English language and international Ph.D. programs. In addition, the participants considered the implementation of the project in 2016 and opportunities for further mutually beneficial Russian-German university collaboration in 2017-2018.

SPbPU at the Hannover International Seminar

It is worth noting that the project of the strategic partnership between SPbPU and the Leibniz Universität Hannover has been progressing since 2012 under the scholarship of German Academic Exchange Program - DAAD. The duration of the project is 4 years.

The Polytechnic University was represented at the seminar by the International Relations Office: the Director of the International Educational Programs Offie E.G.Nikonchuk, the chief deputy of the International Cooperation Office A.L.Mazina, the collaborator of International Programs Office V.Denisova, and also the coordinators of the International Educational Programs - E.N.Selivanova, V.V.Shchegolev, A.S.Aleshina, T.U.Hvatova.

The program of the seminar included the collaborative development of two dual degree master programs in the English language, and their introduction in universities-partners from September 2016. These programs are the dual degree master program in Management (SPbPU with the University of Hannover), and the triple degree program in Power Engineering Technologies (SPbPU, University of Hannover and Lappeenranta University of Technology).

One of the issues under discussion at the seminar was the strategy of increasing a number of student exchange programs and ways of international students' adaptation abroad in the university-partner. Effective adaptation of foreign students is a subject for the research of many world top university professors. It is the university where international students should feel involved in the social environment and motivated for studies as well as aspired to be a part of the fascinating student life.

During the seminar both the representatives of SPbPU and the University of Hannover developed measures to intensify the process of international student adaptation. These measures include continuous informational support for students throughout all the stages of their educational process. Obviously, this strategy guarantees effective results.

All the agreements between the two universities were confirmed on November 10, 2015 during the Skype-conference which involved the SPbPU Vice-Rector for International Relations D.G.Arsenyev, the chief deputy of International Cooperation Office A.L.Mazina, the chief deputy of the International Educational Projects Office O.G.Emelyanova, Vice-President for International Affairs Prof. Monika Sester, International Office Director Dr. Birgit Barden, and the coordinator of Russian projects Natalia Butich. The final video-conference will be held on December 2, 2015.
